Growing up in rural Northern California, Mike Leavitt lived in a musical family of nine. His father, Dale, played the trombone and sang in a barbershop quartet and his mother, Celeste, loved to sing and always encouraged Mike’s musical aspirations. Mike's six brothers and sisters are all talented musicians and singers.
From the age of eight Mike studied with renowned concert pianist James “Chip” Brimhall. At the age of nine he competed and won a Young Musicians' Award. Accepting a music scholarship to Rick’s College Mike gained a passion for song writing and composing. In addition to working within his church to teach young children music, today Mike continues to sing, write, teach, and play music any chance he gets. Mike is a classically trained musician who is an intuitive player and coach. He takes great pride in helping pianists and vocalists to be the best musicians they can be. He is fun and his methods work. A lover of all genres of music. Mike also is a composer who has written radio jingles, large choir compositions, and everything in between. Recently he has finished writing and producing the latest Addo Lumen album. He has also finished composing "The Princesses of Light," a musical for the Princess Festival Currently resides in Gilbert, AZ, with his wife and four children, Mike is active in his church serving with the choir and the children. |
